E-Mail Encryption Information
As part of its ongoing commitment to protect members’ privacy and health information, customer service divisions of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Oklahoma and BlueLincs HMO have begun encrypting outgoing e-mail messages and will automate the encryption process for all outgoing e-mail during the first quarter of 2005.
With the adoption of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), it is required that all communications containing Protected Health Information (PHI) be secured. To help implement this important and practical security measure, we are using Tumbleweed services to protect our e-mail and ensure all PHI remains confidential. Access Tumbleweed secure e-mail. |
