Here's a quick checklist of Medicare and Medicare Supplement insurance to-dos.

Seven to nine months before your 65th birthday:

  • Contact the Social Security Administration at 1-800-772-1213 to confirm your eligibility for Medicare benefits.
  • Review your current health insurance coverage to find out what happens after you turn 65.
  • Find out how to help cover yourself where Medicare stops. Call the Medicare Supplement insurance representatives at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Oklahoma (BCBSOK) to help you with all your questions. Call us toll free at 1-800-646-3000.
  • Enroll in a Medicare Supplement insurance plan.

Four to six months before your 65th birthday:

  • If you haven't enrolled yet, contact us at 1-800-646-3000 to review your Medicare Supplement insurance plan options.
  • Check with your doctor(s) to see if they accept Medicare.
  • Learn more about Medigap .

One to three months before your 65th birthday:

  • Enroll in Medicare Parts A and B. If you do not receive your automatic enrollment information in the mail, contact the Social Security Administration at 1-800-772-1213.
  • Research and select a Prescription Drug Plan.
