Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Oklahoma is collaborating with the University of Tulsa to help develop the next generation of health care leaders.
The University of Tulsa received a Blue ImpactSM grant from BCBSOK for its Students Reaching Excellence Through Collaborations and Higher Education or STRETCHED program that exposes high school students to medical careers in general medicine, rehabilitation and everything in between.
The program offers hands-on workshops, symposiums, college visits and camps for students, and informs students about college admission requirements and financial support options.
“There’s so much passion and dreams that are brewing among our students,” says Taylor Pride, College and Career Coordinator at Will Rogers High School in Tulsa, which participates in the STRETCHED program. “What STRETCHED has done is provided a vehicle for that. Our students have people that look like them, talking about their experiences.”
