Medicare’s Extra Help Program Can Help Lower Drug Costs

"Extra Help" is a Medicare program to help people with limited income pay their Medicare Part D premiums, deductibles, copays and other costs. Medicare can help with these costs.

If you qualify for the Extra Help program, you:

  • Will get a Low-Income Subsidy (LIS) rider. This tells you how much help you'll get from Medicare.
  • Get the same coverage as someone on your plan who is not getting Extra Help.
  • Must keep paying your Medicare Part B premium and follow your plan details.

Download the Low Income Premium Subsidy form. Go to our Forms and Documents page, then choose Blue Cross MedicareRx (PDP)℠ Plan Documents.

Do You Have an LIS and Think You May Be Paying Too Much?

Are you in the Extra Help program but think you've been paying too much for your meds? Visit medicare.gov for details on how to get your drug costs reviewed.
